HOW TO PROTECT YOUR SKIN FROM UV RAYS?

To cope with ongoing “red-alert” hot weather, you should learn some tips to protect yourself from UV radiation. 

 

Taking initiative to protect your skin from UV rays is the best way to reduce premature skin aging and prevent skin cancer. 

 

-Limit the amount of time you're in the sun, especially when the sun's rays are the most intense (between 10:00am to 4:00pm)
 

-Wear long-sleeved shirts, long pants, long dresses to cover your whole body, select white clothing with tightly woven fabric to avoid sun rays 
 

-UVA rays can pass through car windows, so apply sunscreen even when you’re in the car. 

 

-If your swelling, pimples, mole is transforming, developing or bleeding, you should see a doctor as those may be symptoms of skin cancer. Early diagnosis can make treatment process more successful. 

 

-Wear wide-brimmed hats to shade your face and neck. 

 

-Apply sunscreen that has SPF of 15 and higher. Apply sunscreen at least 15 to 30 minutes before going outside and reapply after every 2 hours, even on cloudy days. 

 

-Always wear sunglasses when going outside.
 

-Expose your newborn babies to sunlight before 8:00am and after 5:00pm. Keep your kids in the shade as much as possible. In case they must go outside, apply the same tips as for adults.
