AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL HOSPITAL (AIH) - TOP 4 PRIVATE HOSPITALS IN HO CHI MINH CITY 2023

Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health has just announced the hospital quality evaluation score for 2023 of 120 hospitals, American International Hospital (AIH) in the top 4 private hospitals with the highest score according to the Ministry of Health's hospital quality criteria. The average score of AIH's quality assessment criteria has increased, especially in professional activities and hospital quality improvement.  

On May 9, 2024, the inspection team of HCMC Department of Health, led by Dr. Nguyen Van Vinh Chau - Deputy Director of HCMC Department of Health, conducted an inspection and quality assessment at the American International Hospital (AIH) according to the Vietnam Hospital Quality Criteria Version 2.0 with 83 criteria issued by the Ministry of Health. A total of 120 hospitals were evaluated, including 51 public hospitals, 63 non-public hospitals, 04 medical centers with beds, 02 hospitals under ministries.

Out of 82/83 criteria evaluated, the American International Hospital (AIH) excelled with a total score of 396 with an average score of 4.45. In particular, the satisfaction rate of inpatients reached 98.67%, outpatients reached 97.65%, and medical staff reached 90.13%. According to the evaluation results over the years, American International Hospital (AIH) has continuously increased its ranking and quality score, being one of the leading hospitals in the group of private hospitals with the score increasing from 4.17 (in 2022) to 4.45 (in 2023) on a 5-point scale, showing the determination and efforts of the whole hospital's staff in improving service quality, ensuring patient safety, and improving customer satisfaction in the medical care process.

In addition to the main contents of the inspection and evaluation of hospital quality in 2023 such as: set of hospital quality criteria, surgical safety criteria, laboratory quality level assessment criteria, patient and medical staff satisfaction survey, Department of Health also coordinates the inspection and evaluation of topics on health examination conditions; good practices of drug preservation; application level of information technology according to Circular No. 54/2017/TT-BYT and Circular No. 46/2018/TT-BYT; advertising activities for medical examination and treatment services; communication activities of certificates of live birth and death certificates for Project 06.

According to the comments of the Department of Health of Ho Chi Minh City, the results of inspection and evaluation of hospital quality in 2023 have many improvements. At the American International Hospital (AIH), the Department of Health assessed the hospital as having bright spots about significant improvements in health services. In particular, in terms of professional fields: The hospital has developed 19 medical procedures and 46 new medical guidelines, along with regulations on peer review of prescriptions and medical records, and conducted a quality assessment of medical records. The hospital has also organized regular child-birth preparation classes, breastfeeding guidelines... In the field of infection control, the American International Hospital (AIH) has implemented the right scale control system.
