MATERNAL ATTENTION TO THE SIGNS OF ECTOPIC PREGNANCY
Currently, the incidence of ectopic pregnancy is increasing, especially in Vietnam, about 1 in 300 women will have an ectopic pregnancy. Especially, this rate is up to 2% worldwide, an alarming number in gynecological care in women.
An ectopic pregnancy occurs when fertilization takes place outside the endometrium, particularly in the fallopian tubes, uterine horns, cervix, ovaries, abdominal cavity, or pelvis. Because ectopic pregnancy is not protected as normal, it is risked to rupture, sporadic or massive vaginal bleeding. Some women with an ectopic pregnancy may experience fainting or hemorrhagic shock, even significant life-threatening when the blood from the ruptured uterus flows back into the peritoneal cavity.
The disease can be diagnosed by measuring beta hCG levels in the urine or by pelvic ultrasound. Through the diagnosis as well as actual examination of experts, the leading causes of ectopic pregnancy include salpingitis, pelvic infection or fallopian tube malformation.
In addition, before ectopic pregnancy diagosed, the patients used to have the basic symptoms as follows:

- Late period: Unlike normal pregnancy, women with ectopic pregnancy often have too soon or too late period than expected.
- Abnormal vaginal bleeding: ectopic pregnancy women usually have intermenstrual bleeding, the blood is dark red that different from bright pink in normal pregnant women.
- Abdominal pain: Many cases have severe lower abdomen pain. The pain is persistent, severe accompanied with vaginal bleeding.
