BE CAUTIOUS WITH VESTIBULAR DISORDER SYMPTOMS

Vestibular disorders are common among middle-aged and elderly individuals; however, the condition is increasingly affecting younger people.

Vestibular system consists of the inner ear's cochlea, and a part of the cerebellum within the nervous system. Its function is to maintain body balance and coordinate eye movements.
Therefore, when a part of the vestibular system is damaged, it can result in vestibular disorders. Patients will frequently experience dizziness, loss of balance, spinning sensation, floating feelings, room-spinning sensation, tinnitus, or blurred vision. Additionally, other less common symptoms may include nausea, diarrhea, anxiety, heart arrhythmia, and more.
 
Vestiblar disorders can last for several days, or become prolonged and recurrent. If not promptly treated, the condition can lead to dangerous consequences such as asthenia, risk of hearing loss, or even cerebrovascular accident due to insufficient blood supply to the brain.

Therefore, if experiencing symptoms like dizziness, tinnitus, unsteadiness while standing and walking, or suspecting a vestibular disorder, the patient needs to consult with a specialist to identify the correct cause and receive appropriate, timely treatment.
