DIETARY ADVICE AFTER CESAREAN DELIVERY
Which foods to enhance recovery and promote breastfeeding is the top concern of women after giving birth, especially those with cesarean delivery.

•The evidence shows that mothers should eat or drink as soon as possible when they are conscious after a C-section. Initially, you should eat liquid texture and gradually evolve to solid texture.
•When the mother is conscious , she should have sugar-free or mint chewing gums to stimulate her digestive system and reduce the feeling of nausea.
•Do not eat foods that are high in sugar and fat or drink carbonated beverages. These types of food can cause flatulence, indigestion and increase the risk of overweight - obesity or diabetes type 2.
•Drink plenty of water to avoid constipation and flatulence which are caused by the effect of anesthetics within 3-5 days after surgery. Also, it also helps for breast milk production.
•A balanced – sufficient - diverse diet is highly recommended, which helps the mother to recovery faster and bring good benefits for both mothers and their babies.
•The lactating mothers need a diet that are high in energy, protein and micronutrients to ensure the best recovery after surgery. The restriction foods is not necessary because it can lead to malnutrition. Some myths like “eating beef or morning glory can lead to the formation of scars” are entirely false. Thus, a diverse diet is extremely important.
